JB Digital Media is thrilled to announce their partnership with the Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the Official Video Broadcast Partner for the 2024-2025 Season.

 

With the Nailers 33rd season right around the corner, lots of work has been taking place in the off-season to prepare. “Around early June we began talks with the Nailers management on taking over the broadcast for the upcoming season,” says owner Jonathan Burkhart. “From the start, we knew it was going to be a tight turnaround, so we immediately got to work laying out everything from what cameras we would have to what cables we need to run.”

Fans can expect a hefty upgrade to the in-arena and TV broadcast viewing experience this season. An additional 8 cameras will be added to the broadcast, including a center ice RoboCam, wireless cameras in each net, wide angle cameras behind each net, and a shallow depth-of-field gimbal rig for select games. “It’s going to vastly change the fan experience- having angles that fans are used to seeing with NHL broadcasts that bring them closer to the action. Our goal is to have people’s eyes glued to the videoboard or TV in awe of the goal, save, or play we are showing,” says Burkhart. The total replay capacity will also double, allowing 16 different angles between two instant replay machines to now be used in-game. In addition, a brand-new graphics pack will accompany the broadcast, highlighted by a redesigned dynamic score-bug.

JB Digital Media is no stranger to the Nailers, having worked the past two season providing highlight content for social media, and footage for series such as Mic’d Up and “Beyond the Faceoff” (Ref Cam). DJ Abisalih, Broadcaster & Director of Media/Community Relations for the Nailers, says, “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Jonathan Burkhart and his crew with JB Digital Media. Jonathan has done incredible work with our organization in the past, with one of the major highlights being the Lasting Legacy documentary. We are looking forward to being able to deliver a high-quality broadcast to our television and streaming audiences, complete with new camera angles, more replays, and customized graphics. We are also eager to continue enhancing our game day experience, while delivering that "Wow!" factor to our fans at WesBanco Arena."

 

You can catch the Nailers in action at their Home Opener on Saturday, November 2nd, as they take on the Bloomington Bison at WesBanco Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:10pm.
